Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 1, 2026 • Last updated: October 2026
Privacy by Design: 100% In-Browser Execution
At MeasureHow, we believe tools should just work without requiring your identity. All measurement calculations, fraction conversions, and interactive ruler clicks run locally on your device. We do not save, collect, or transmit your measurement data or personal project inputs to any server.
1Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to MeasureHow (accessible from https://measurehow.com). It clarifies the types of information processed when you visit our website, how standard web telemetry is handled, and your rights concerning personal privacy.
We operate under a strict principle of data minimization: we do not offer user registrations, passwords, saved accounts, or email newsletters. You can use every ruler and guide anonymously.
2Local In-Browser Processing
When you use our tape measure reader, fraction-to-decimal converters, clothing sizing calculators, picture frame visualizers, or bolt pattern guides:
- All mathematical operations and SVG animations are performed using client-side JavaScript inside your browser.
- Your input measurements (e.g. inseams, chest circumferences, frame dimensions) stay exclusively in your browser memory and are deleted as soon as you close or refresh the tab.
- We do not store your measurement inputs in cookies, local storage, or remote cloud databases.
3Third-Party Advertising, Cookies & Web Beacons
To maintain MeasureHow as a completely free service without paywalls or subscriptions, we display standard programmatic advertisements served by third-party advertising networks (including Google AdSense).
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites or advertising vendors to store preferences and deliver context-relevant advertisements.
Google AdSense & Third-Party Vendors
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to MeasureHow and/or other sites on the Internet.
Please note: MeasureHow has no direct access to or control over third-party cookies used by independent advertising vendors.
4How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising
You have full control over your cookie settings and can opt out of personalized interest-based advertising at any time through the following consumer choice portals:
- Google Ads Settings: You can customize your Google ad experience or opt out of personalized ads by visiting Google Ad Settings.
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA): Opt out of participating ad networks via the DAA WebChoices Tool.
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): Opt out of targeted ads via the NAI Consumer Opt-Out Page.
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA): European visitors can manage preferences at Your Online Choices.
- Browser Controls: You can configure your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) to block or delete cookies entirely via your browser's security/privacy preferences.
5Server Log Files & Security Telemetry
Like virtually all standard web platforms, our hosting infrastructure records standard server log entries. These logs may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamps, referring/exit URLs, and requested assets.
These data points are processed automatically for security monitoring (e.g., preventing denial-of-service attacks), troubleshooting system bugs, and measuring overall site performance. They are not joined with personally identifiable information.
6California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents are entitled to specific rights regarding their personal information:
- Right to Know: The right to request information about the categories of personal data collected and disclosed.
- Right to Delete: The right to request the deletion of personal data collected from the consumer.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: MeasureHow does not sell personal data. Any sharing of data with advertising networks for cross-context behavioral advertising can be opted out of via the cookie controls detailed above.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. All visitors have equal access to every ruler and calculator.
7GDPR & International Privacy Rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you hold statutory rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:
- The right to access, rectify, or erase any personal information we hold about you.
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing activities.
- The right to withdraw consent at any time for non-essential cookies.
Because we do not require account registration or store personal profiles, we hold virtually zero identifying data. However, if you wish to exercise any rights, contact us at [email protected].
8Children's Privacy Protection (COPPA)
Protecting the privacy of children on the internet is a fundamental priority. MeasureHow does not knowingly collect or solicit any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
All educational tools, visual rulers, and fraction guides are openly accessible without registration. If a parent or guardian believes their child has submitted personal information to us, please notify us immediately at [email protected], and we will promptly remove such records.
